Description
The picturesque Heritage Plaza is a 14,400 square foot 3-story commercial building featuring Spanish-Colonial styling, a full wrap-around veranda and second floor balcony space. With exterior construction completed in 2009, the building is a faithful replica of the city of Jerome's historic 1908 North Side Inn. Decorative concrete adorns both the interior and exterior spaces. The Heritage Plaza, built by owners Geritt & Lori Dragt of Dragt Construction, features 11 condominium office suites. Sitting on a 1.26-acre lot, the building's exterior is finished and landscaped. The original intent for the building was for it be used as business and medical offices related to the St. Benedicts Hospital planned to be built next to Heritage Plaza.

The building has all infrastructure but no internal plumbing, electrical, natural gas, cable or phone lines. With its interior stud-wall construction, the building provides unique opportunities for a build-to-suit project based upon a purchaser’s or lessee’s needs. The parking lot is covered with crushed rock, allowing paving and stripping to be completed at the buyer’s or lessee’s expense. The building lot has been landscaped with grass, shrubs and trees. Heritage Plaza has a prime location at Crossroads Point Business Center^®. It occupies a very visible lot on the development's main road, Crossroads Point Blvd, and is located near Comfort Inn & Suites hotel and the Valley Wide Country Store gas station.

Heritage Plaza Historic Connection

The city of Jerome, Idaho, was founded on March 19, 1907. It was named after its founding father Jerome Kuhn, who along with his brother Wendell Kuhn, opened the North Side Land & Water Co. Their efforts to build canals from the Snake River and drilling wells for potable water provided the needed infrastructure to grow the city. Construction of the Idaho Hotel, later renamed the North Side Inn, began October 1, 1908. It was dramatic; a large piece of fine art suddenly visible across a dry wasteland. The North Side Inn was used to entertain perspective buyers for North Side tracts of water and land. The hotel was located at the corner of Main Street and Lincoln Avenue in the city of Jerome. This location was to serve as center of activity in the city for the next 50 years. In the 1960’s, construction was completed on Interstate I-84, three miles south, and neighboring Twin Falls became the center of regional commerce. Jerome’s grand old downtown hotel began to fade. It was ultimately demolished in 1966. It may be gone, but the memory of the North Side Inn, and the city it helped found live on. Heritage Plaza, built at Crossroads Point Business Center^®, is a modern-day replica of Jerome's historic North Side Inn. Its location at Crossroads Point^®, a 500-acre business park development at the intersection of US Highway 93 and Interstate 84, is approximately 7 miles from the North Side Inn's original location. The 14,400 square foot three-story Spanish-Colonial building was built by Geritt and Lori Dragt, owners of Dragt Construction. Exterior construction was completed in 2009 and features a full wrap-around veranda, second floor balcony space, and decorative concrete work throughout. The original intent of the building was to use it for business and medical offices related to the St. Benedicts Hospital planned to be built next to the Heritage Plaza. However, do to consolidation in the hospital industry and the construction of St. Luke’s new Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls, St. Benedicts hospital plans were reversed. The Dragt's chose to finish the interior structure of the building sufficient to obtain special occupancy by Jerome County. The Heritage Plaza represents an amazing opportunity for a new business, while offering an important link to Jerome's past.

Dragt Construction envisioned a sister building to Heritage Plaza, called the Legacy, to be built on the north adjacent lot. Sitting on a 1.38-acre lot, the matching style building would have been 19,000 square foot.
